Lake Kaniere is one of the most beautiful lakes in New Zealand and offers opportunity for a number of water sports. There are also several picnic places, a camping area, and numerous short walks. Twins at the Lake units are a short stroll away from the lake and the main walkway and cycling tracks. Kaniere is host to the powerboat races each year and is located only 18 km inland from Hokitika. Kowhai bach offers plenty of room to park a boat and lock up storage for any cycles etc

Lake Kaniere Lodge

Lake Kaniere Lodge is situated 20 minutes east of Hokitika in a Scenic Reserve at the south end of Lake Kaniere and all Scenic Reserve rules must be respected. Parties can travel via the Lakeside Drive or through Kokatahi. The Lodge accommodates up to 40 individuals (in two 17-person bunk rooms and two 3-person quarters) and has most modern appliances, excluding cell phone reception and internet access. Users need to supply their own bedding.
