Relax in the Adirondack chairs under the mighty oak and enjoy the peaceful, expansive, rolling, country views, farms, a stocked pond w/ Koi & bass, wild ducks, geese and horse pastures. 1 & 1/2 miles outside of New Freedom, PA. Conveniently located between Baltimore, Lancaster, Gettysburg, York and Harrisburg.

The Pig Shed Writer’s Retreat at Barter Lady Farm

Newly renovated with all new bathroom! The Pig Shed is an idyllic setting, close to Gettysburg and McDaniel College. Dogs under 50lbs welcome for Additional Fee, see House Manual for rules/fees for dogs. A unique retreat, fantastic for exploring local sites and nature watching. The studio features a queen sized bed, a full size futon, 3/4 bath, microwave, air fryer, hot plate, gas grill, incredible views and lots of quiet, access to a pond, hiking trails, a fire pit, and can visit the chickens.

Our 1919 charming home, surrounded by 50 acres of preserved land, is in an historic district and a stone's throw from the NCR hike/bike trail. We have tubes to float down the Gunpowder River which winds around our property and is accessible by foot. The bike path is lovely! Inverness Brewery is located 5 minutes away, Starbright farm is a glorious lavender farm 15 minutes north, Boordy Vineyards, a family run winery, is 20 minutes east, and Ladew Toipiary Gardens is another gem to behold!

Silver Maple Studio

A true get-away. Enjoy this secluded refuge nestled on 12 acres in southern PA woodlands. This Studio is ONE room (1,100 sq. ft.) with one queen & one fold out full/double murphy bed. Cook in the fully equipped kitchen or on an outside grill. Follow the hiking paths through the woods or dip in our pond to the chorus of the bull frogs. Spend your mornings under the big old Silver Maple while spotting birds and wildlife. Perfect for star gazing with little to no light pollution. (Remote!)

This 2nd floor, 2-bedroom apartment is for the weary traveler looking for a home away from home. Whether you are just passing through, on vacation, or working in the area and need a place to stay, you can expect all the comforts of home. We are located on a main road so please realize that you may be able to hear traffic passing by. A white noise machine is available. We also provide a fully equipped kitchen, a dedicated office, full bathroom and an amazing mahogany balcony.
