BREEZE Treehouse, at The Appleton Retreat is located on 120 acres of private land, bordered by 1,300 acres of a protected nature conservancy. To the south is the Pettengill Stream a resource protected area and to the north a large secluded pond. BREEZE guests may reserve the wood fired cedar hot tub and the sauna, which are close by and private, at an additional charge. The Appleton Retreat is less than a 30 minute drive to Belfast, Rockport, Camden and Rockland, charming downeast seaside towns.

Situated on the edge of 5 acres of forest between Acadia National Park and downtown Southwest Harbor, this cozy cabin is ideal for a weekend trip or a longer stay on beautiful Mount Desert Island. Enjoy your morning coffee on porch before heading out for a hike around Long Pond, a swim at Echo Lake, or a walk into town for the weekly Farmer’s Market, shops and restaurants - all a mile or less away! End your day around the outdoor fire pit, roasting marshmallows or enjoying an evening cocktail.

You can access the water via a set of stairs leading from the property to the shoreline. End your days on the deck and keep your eyes peeled for seals!

The cottage features high ceilings and an open floor plan, with a small deck looking into the woods The walls are decorated with original art work by the owner. Our location is central to the island, situated just outside the village of Somesville; 15 minutes to Bar Harbor, 10 minutes to Southwest Harbor by car. Hiking and swimming opportunities are just 5 minutes away by car. The Arthaus is not suitable for pets, despite our love for them.

On the west (“quiet") side of Mount Desert Island, 2 min from Acadia NP hiking trails, Echo Lake Beach, downtown Southwest Harbor; 25 minto Bar Harbor. Our location is beautiful and quiet, surrounded by woods. Apt is on the 2nd level; it offers privacy: your own driveway, entrance and deck. It feels secluded. 2024: new deck and heat pump (air conditioning, no humidity!)

Walk right from the cottage to access the carriage roads and the Giant Slide Trail which leads up Sargeant Mountain.
