The main bedroom boasts sliding french doors, also overlooking the woodland and stream, with a bath placed to enjoy this view. There is a private terrace and patio area to enjoy al-fresco dining or star-gazing.

Comfortably sleeping four (plus infant), in two double bedrooms, one with ensuite cloakroom, the house has a kitchen/dining/living space, cosy living room and spacious garden, with very little light pollution, ideal for star gazing. Ample parking Perfect for exploring the wildlife of the Solway Coast, the City of Carlisle, Gretna and the Lake District.

Hovel House Shed

The Shed has been custom built, in the paddock, near my small barn conversion. It has a homely atmosphere, with vintage furnishings and up-cycled items. Where possible I’ve tried to be eco friendly. This is a quiet, tranquil place with beautiful views of the Scottish hills beyond the Solway Firth. It’s part of a small hamlet and my former family farm. Animals are often kept in the fields next to The Shed. You’ll experience stunning sunsets and starry skies.

Orchard Cottage - An 18th Century Cumbrian Cottage

Orchard Cottage was originally an 18th century 'Solway Plain clay dabbin' farmer's cottage (named after the fruit trees that are still in the garden), now fully restored with many of its original features. It is a perfect cosy getaway for those wanting to explore the Lakes, Hadrian's Wall and other highlights of this beautiful county. It is a great base to sample the many delights Cumbria has to offer.

Enjoy the sounds of nature when you stay in this unique place. The perfect base for walking or biking the area or visiting the local towns and amazing sights or to just stop and relax and refresh. This is a dog friendly accommodation however any other pet ie cat/donkey/giant python I'm afraid has to be left at home and I ask you keep dog on the leash when around the car park and walkways.
