Hiking to the top of Monserrate´s hill
One of the highlights of Bogota is Monserrate Sanctuary, located in a top of a mountain at 3.150 mts above the sea level. Many people take the easy option to go by cable car or funicular because they are afraid about safety or the altitude. Thats why i want to offer a real experience as we locals do. We will hike 1.800 stairs, 2.5 kilometers to get to the top of the hill. Monserrate church has a real meaning for catholics, the suffering of Jesus in way of the cross. Not worries! we are not going to suffer, we are going to breathe pure air walk through the nature and learn about the deep Colombian culture. This a medium level hike for people whom like adventure and dont want to take the easy option. Ive been hiking thi hill since i was a kid, will be a pleasure to take you with me! When we reach the top we will grab a coca tea and enjoy a traditional Tamal from the suoth of Colombia to recover our energy! Ont the way to the church we will observe more tha 50 species of birds and all the high andean forest ecosystem. This a safe walk! forget the stereotypes! Other things to note Im flexible with time. Also if want another urban hike in the city jus ask me, i got other cool options as La Aguadora, El verjon and Quebrada la Vieja
