Closest airports are Exeter and Newquay. Plymouth is full of history:- walk the Hoe and the Barbican, see where Drake played his bowls before defeating the Armada, visit the steps where the Mayflower left for the new world 400 years ago and landed on Plymouth Rock USA. Plymouth is a working Naval Port with Devonport Dockyard at its centre. Boat trips to see the warships and dockyard or book a Mackerel fishing trip or paddle board lessons. If you prefer to look at marine life , why not visit the national Marine Aquarium next to the fish market. For the golfers among you a number of courses are nearby :- Boringdon, Elfordleigh, Staddon Heights around Plymouth outskirts and China Fleet and St Mellion just into Cornwall. Take the passenger ferry to Mount Edgecombe park, walk through acres of grounds overlooking the Tamar and the Sound. Lookout for deer on your walk.
