Vegetarian food that's so good our carnivorous family even likes it. They can also make any and everything vegan on request. Try the soy-rizo and/or the pecan tamales. Yum!

Coffee shop with a huge, lovely outdoor space that serves beer and wine, and has lots of events going on in the evenings. Everything from live music (Bluegrass Mondays) to TV showings (currently Twin Peaks). It's also a great spot to work/study/read during the weekdays, and they have great food trucks out back.

This is a cheap, divey little bar and restaurant with decadent sandwiches and soups (in a bread bowl, with all homemade breads). It's a good one.

My favorite grocery store near the house. HEB is a great company started and based in Texas, and they'll have everything you need. This one is open late and early (6am-1am)!

Here you can rent kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddleboards to go out on Lady Bird Lake (formerly known as Town Lake) and see the sights of the downtown skyline and even catch the bats under the Congress bridge.

Here you can have a full menu of food and drinks (including alcohol) delivered to your seat while you watch a movie. Also, there is a curated "pre-show" of clips rather than Coca-Cola commercials before the show. Enjoy!

One of the last "Honky Tonks" in town. They have live music and two-step dancing most nights of the week. It's a real Texas experience in the heart of the city.
