Caretaker Cottage

Dixona, the historic home across Hwy 25 from the Caretaker Cottage, was built is 1787 by Tilman Dixon. Pres. Washington awarded Tilman a share of land for fighting in the Revolutionary War. He traveled by boat traversing rivers and creeks until he found the spring near the cottage. He built the only home in the area which became the first post office, tavern and court for the area. Today, the Caretaker Cottage embodies the simple accommodations of one who would look out for Dixona Farm.

This magnificent farmhouse has 5 bedrooms and 3 baths and is located on 180 acre farm directly on the Caney Fork River. It is very isolated and the view from the wrap around porch is spectacular. See wildlife like deer, turkey and bold eagles. It has almost a half mile of river frontage. Easy access to the river with a boat launch. Wonderful river frontage with a canopy of trees which make walking and hiking wonderful. A natural rock bar that allows for fishing or relaxing in the water.

There are plenty of things to do during your stay, including antiquing, wine tasting, hiking and water sports. With large decks and a hot tub for relaxing, the Hoot Camp is ideal for rejuvenating your soul and enjoying sweeping views of the Cumberland River. The BirdDog Farm is tranquility and peace. We have no light pollution so the night sky is abound with stars. Come to our quiet hollow in Dixon Springs, TN and you will hear absolutely no traffic. We have a fully stocked pond for fishing and are 15 minutes from Defeated Creek and the Candy Fork. Great hiking, wildlife, canoeing, bird watching, etc. This is a DOG friendly property. Holler Homestead Basecamp Lodge Whole House

Part of a homestead with sheep and poultry, peace. Convenient to Edgar Evans State Park, kayaking on the Caney Fork, Cove Hollow Marina, more. Library available W/ single bed if you have another person for $25. We are repainting and expecting a gutter installation sometime soon and may need to have workers outside during some daytime hours to support that and will let you know if they will be there when you are.
