River Song Cabin at Ripples Retreat is all people imagine about NZ — rolling hills, a calm river & birdsong. Hand-built on our family farm & surrounded by Hobbit landscapes, this romantic king studio sleeps 5 across 3 beds including a cosy bunk nook. Couples love the outdoor bath & stargazing; families enjoy kayaking, fishing & meeting the sheep. Many stay 3–5 nights for waterfalls, glowworms, Hobbiton & beaches — or as a soft landing or gentle goodbye to NZ. Stay 4+ nights for a free farm tour.

Soothing Riverside Cabin, Taumarunui

No cleaning fee, minimum 2 night stay. Cabin is a bedroom only, toilet, shower and kitchen located separately a few metres away. You are on the tip of a peninsula in the Whanganui River. Lie in bed and watch the fish rise in the morning, sit around the fire in the evening enjoying the peace and quiet after a swim. Mountains are 40 mins away, kayaking tours 10 mins away and Taumarunui is 12km. Please don't bring water, free, safe water is provided. Limiting plastic is much appreciated.

Our modern home is 15 minutes from Taupō yet feels like a private hideaway. Quiet and secluded, it looks out to Lake Taupō and Mount Ruapehu, with stunning sunsets. Ideal year-round, it has outdoor areas with BBQ, large windows and a double-sided fireplace. Whakaipo Bay is 5 minutes away for swimming or walking, with plenty of bush tracks nearby.
