Come stay at our peaceful guest suite where you can walk to the gorgeous beach in minutes! It’s only half a mile from the closest beach access as well as grocery stores, restaurants, cafes, ice cream shops, bars & parks. After a day relaxing at the beach or visiting local sites, you’ll love using our outdoor shower(w/ hot & cold water) & sitting outside in our private guest sitting area with your fav evening beverage. We’d love for your happy beach memories to be made here at our cottage by the sea, The Whimsy Whale. Our island cottage is perfectly placed under a canopy of magnificent live oaks, about 300 steps away from the ocean. Nestled on a quiet beach access street, central to all the best attractions, shopping and eateries on Oak Island; close to attractions in Southport. It is one of our favorite places to spend time together and we look forward to sharing it with you, your loved ones and friends.

Farmers market around the corner in the summer months as well as concerts every Friday night, Tennis courts, pickle ball and splash pad in the same area to cool you off. We offer Wi-Fi and Roku. . Gas fire place on back porch. Indoor fireplace use is seasonal.

Welcome to the Grove. We are just steps from the beach (3-minute walk) and a short walk to restaurants, shops, ice cream, the Oak Island pier, and an amazing coffee shop. Our namesake Live Oak trees, porches, and sun room make The Grove a relaxing sanctuary after a day exploring the island. Wash the salt and sand away in one of two outdoor showers. This wheelchair friendly spacious studio apartment has a fully stocked kitchen, queen size Murphy bed, bathroom with a walk-in, wheelchair friendly shower, front loading washer/dryer and private screened in porch; beach towels, beach chairs, cooler and an umbrella are all included with rental. About a 10 minute walk to the ocean and 3 minute walk to the ICW. Our community is very peaceful, quiet.
