Nocturnal Adventure Glowworm Tour
You will be picked up by a comfortable modern vehicle. We will travel in a small group for 25 minutes to the location . Once kitted up with headlights and red night torches we will begin a 2 km walk through the darkness of a native New Zealand forest. Along the way we will encounter towering trees and cascading waterfalls, giant silver ferns lighting up like fire works . The highlight would have to be the glowworms as breath taking as our clearest night sky. You will be able to get up close and fully understand this amazing creature. No two nights are ever the same. Wallabies and possums patrol the area, Weta and other insects can be encountered. Other things to note we operate in most weather conditions except high winds and severe rain
Meet the Alpacas at Five Gates Farm
Your experience at Five Gates Farm gives you the opportunity to relax and unwind in a beautiful coastal setting with stunning views of Mount Arthur and the Kahurangi mountain range. You will learn how we manage our 6 acre small holding to grow sustainable produce, our cut flower garden and care for our animals. Learn the history of our 1890's homestead and how the land has been farmed for generations since the early pioneering days in Aotearoa. Get up close and personal to hand-feed our herd of alpacas in their paddocks, spending time to get to know these amazing animals and learn all about their history, habits and how each of them have their own unique and quirky personalities. On arrival you'll be welcomed by Julie and Paul your hosts and owners of Five Gates Farm, have a safety briefing, then meet the herd. There's some great photo opportunities with stunning views in the background. A tour of the farm will include meeting all the animals at the farm and playing with our three beagles Oscar, Henry and Sam. The experience ends with a soft drink and delicious home-baking from the farm kitchen.
Sailing in the Bay of Islands
Departing from the Russell Wharf at 10am, we will sail out to one of the 144 islands that are only accessible by boat. On the way there we will do our best to spot our local wildlife; dolphins, penguins, sharks and our wonderful array of seabirds. Once on the island, we will spend an hour or two beach combing, hiking, kayaking, snorkelling or simply lounging in the sun! Since the Islands are bird conservation sites we will hopefully even spot a few native rare birds! After having a fresh lunch on board, we will then sail back to the Russell wharf to arrive around 330pm. Other things to note We need you to be at the Russell wharf at 9:45am for the safety briefing. Departure is at 10am, please don't be late. Like the saying "the ship has sailed", it will!
Ride with a Local - Auckland eBike tour
Learn about life for the locals in Auckland - all from the comfort of an electric bike. Escape the tourist trail and zip around the city’s beautiful waterfront and it's cool central neighborhoods on this 2.5 hour electric bike guided tour. Find out where the locals go to socialize and to enjoy the beautiful natural environment in and around our city. Starting from the Park Hyatt Auckland (see the Notes and Meeting Location on where to find us), we'll ride up a nearby cycleway to check out Karangahape Road (known as "K Road" by the locals) - learning about its edgy past and promising future. Then it's on to Ponsonby - one of the best places to eat, drink and shop in Auckland. We'll check out some other local neighbourhoods too, before heading back down to sea level, to cruise along the waterfront and check out the delights of Wynyard Quarter and the Viaduct. And at the end of the tour, I'll give you a list of my favourite cafes, restaurants and bars around the central city - many of which we'll have cycled past! Phantom Sailing Bay of Islands
We leave from Russell at 10am and set sail for a cruise through the Bay of Islands. During the sailing, we will share the history of the bays and our guests can participate in the sailing or just relax and enjoy the views. At our anchorage, you can go ashore for a walk, swim, snorkel or relax on board while a fresh lunch is prepared in the galley. Lunch is served on the boat and is always punctuated by lively conversation. We sail back to Russell to arrive at the wharf at about 3:30pm. Other things to note We have your safety and comfort as our first consideration. It is important that you make phone or email contact before the trip so we can make sure you have the latest information as far as weather goes. We have a toilet and refrigeration on board. No sailing or boating experience necessary.

Sheep Farm Tour & Woolly Farm-Hat Gift
When you arrive on our beautiful farm and meet our friendly, naturally coloured Corriedale sheep & lambs. Followed by an explanation of how wool is shorn from the sheep, skirted, washed & dried. Next, guests will select their choice of wool, alpaca, lama and other fibres to card into large batts of fibre that are ready to process by spinning them into wool. After a spinning demonstration, guests will be able to practise spinning the fibre into their own ball of wool to take with them. If time allows they can try knitting or weaving and have a short walk around the farm to meet the other animals. This experience is suitable for beginners with no previous experience needed. Children can attend, just advise the age of the child, as I'll organise a child friendly wool activity for them. I'd like to make sure you have a fun, relaxing & unique experience that you will always remember. The scenery is spectacular and I am happy to take photos of you around the farm and with the animals. You can even select your own farm made hat as a free souvenir. Each hat is handcrafted, organically processed and shorn from our own sheeps wool, hand made and over 20 hours of work in each one. Come and learn how your hat was crafted - eco -slow fashion just for you.
Combo Animal Feeding & Wool making
Would you like to spend some relaxing time with our friendly animals in the stunning volcanic backdrop of the Upper Atiamuri countryside. We have highland cattle, specialty wool sheep, horses, ponies, goats, chickens, ducks & more. Many of which are rescues. We'll take a stroll to meet and feed the animals and take some photos so you can remember this special experience. We'll be happy to explain some of the history of the area and talk about NZ farming, and a few stories along the way. I'm happy to answer any questions you have too. After many requests for a combination of our tours, this is a combination of two of our most popular. You will be able to take part in a hands on wool processing demonstration and interact with many farm animals and help to feed and pat them. We are proud that we are not a tourist farm, and can provide an authentic experience that will allow you to experience the NZ farm lifestyle and learn a bit more about the animals that we care for and experience the stunningly beautiful Atiamuri landscape. Farm & Animal Feeding Tour
As you drive up the circular driveway, we'll welcome you to our little farm. We'll give you some farm boots to use during your experience. First, you'll be taken to meet our friendly pony, iconic wool sheep & goats. They will come up to you for a pat and are happy to pose for a selfie/photo. Next well take a walk to see the ducks and rare breed chickens. Then it's a short walk to see the beautiful Hororhoro Bluff mountains, with friendly goats following along. Take some photos of the stunning farmland views. Then we'll walk through the orchard to be met by our mini horse and lager horses and scottish highland cattle. Lamb and calf feeding are available if we have orphan animals. Then you can feed the horses, cows, chickens, ducks, baby animals, turkeys, goats. Another nice chance to interact with the animals and take some photos. Egg collecting, fruit, or nut picking may be available in season. 100 percent of the proceeds of this tour go back to our rescue and farm animals. A horse/pony ride can also be provided for guests who would like to add to this unique farm experience, please send a message if you would like this as we will prepare your horse ready to ride. I'll take you to my favourite coffee spot or cafe if you want to get you some food. Coffees cost between $4-6 and food can be anywhere between $15-25. I also do a bar hopping tour on some Fridays - where I can provide this service over some beverages or food. I work for a Maori current affairs show and have travelled the world. My partner has worked in Maori tourism for the past 7 years.

Combo Horse ride and Farm-Animal Feeding
We'll start with a riding lesson where I'll walk you through the fundamentals of groundwork, balance, seat, shifting your weight, reigns, leg aides and some time for you to practice on our beginners horse. I'll be with your all the way. Next we'll take a relaxing walk around the farm to meet, pat and hand feed our animals. We have specialty wool sheep, Scottish Highland cows (fluffy cows), goats, Horses, and a mini horse, goats, ducks (sometimes ducklings), Chickens (often chicks to hold), a dog, and a few more to meet. I'm happy to answer any questions you may like to ask about farming in our area. If time allows we can take a short walk up a hill to see mountain range and take some photos. This is limited to 4-5 guests due to the riding time, but let me know if you have a larger group and we can extend the time and add more guests if needed. Private experiences are also available for bookings or special occasions. This combo has been asked for by guests and we are really proud to be able to offer it as a way for guests to enjoy a farm experience with two of our most popular activities. A good idea to bring your phone/camera, warm clothes for cool days. Long pants for riding, skirts or dresses are uncomfortable for riding, long pants are the best choice. Remember riders you may give your riding time to someone else in your group if you prefer. Adults/children welcome

Alpacas Off Grid - farm tour & alpaca experience
We'll meet you at our front gate and escort you along our tree-lined driveway to begin the tour. You'll experience our scenic, 32-acre, off grid, organic and Biodynamic farm-let/accommodation, set in the hill country and native bush of Golden Bay. Meet our very friendly herd of 14 alpacas. We'll take a 20 minute walk & feed & interact with these peaceful and graceful animals. A highlight is when we take the alpacas for a swim. During our walk it's guaranteed you'll also meet our ducks, chickens & our Tibetan Spaniel. 40-60 minutes. We’re happy to show guests how we survive living completely off grid (in comfort) without any access to town water or mains electricity. This will include a short, picturesque walk through pristine native bush, a tour of our vegetable garden & orchard plus an alpaca fleece spinning demonstration. A tour of our unique accommodation options (including a 1952 Bedford house truck) will be available depending on occupancy. We'll also be glad to detail our blueprint to biodiversity which prevents us needing to use harmful chemicals or heavy machinery. 20-40 minutes. Other things to note: Phone reception can be patchy near us due to the hills so it's best to read directions carefully. 'Spark/Skinny' customers are usually fine. When dealing with animals, plans are always subject to change depending on the co-operation of the alpacas on the day.
Sail Barbary - Eco Sailing Evening and Sunset Trip
Join us on our classic white eco friendly sailing boat. No noise, no nasty diesel fumes. Our skipper will help make your trip memorable aboard the vessel that has proudly entertained visitors to the region since 1982. After a safety briefing we leave the marina at the beginning of the mighty Waikato River and work our way along the bays of Lake Taupo with an informative and interesting short history of the area, it’s volcanic nature and cultural history. The evening sunset trip comes with a free drink. Either a glass of wine, beer, cider or soda. Grab a drink and get to know the people around you. Sit back and relax on our comfortable seating. This is a fun trip. Please note we do not guarantee a sunset. As we sail you will enjoy the majestic view of our volcanic mountains, Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro. In the Winter they are snowcapped like ice cream cones. Sail Barbary takes you right up close to the face of Ngatoroirangi, for the perfect photo of the 14-metre high rock art, only accessible by water. The skipper will tell you the story of its carving. In the evening the setting sun makes the face glow. In the summer we stop for swimming. We are a truly unique and authentic experience. the only sustainable sailing company on the lake.
Awesome Day Sailing Experience
We will depart Paihia or Russell daily at 10:00 and start sailing straight away. Travellers are encouraged to help with the sailing. We sail throughout the islands stopping at mid-day for a beach walk and snorkelling. Our yummy fresh lunch is provided on board at 13:30 (sandwich lunch with vegetarian, gluten free and vegan options). We sail back in the afternoon arriving in Paihia around 16:00. Marine life, penguins and seabirds are frequently sighted in playful groups. Don't forget your camera! Mike's special knowledge of the area allows you to sail to bays and islands that are not on the beaten path. Our ocean going yacht GUNGHA II crosses oceans annually and is a dream to sail. Please do not bring fishing gear or chilly bins.....we will be sailing! Other things to note For travellers staying in Russell we will provide a no-charge ferry transfer to and from our boarding point in Paihia. You can email us via Air BnB for that detail! All sailing trips are weather dependant. Please email within 24 hours of sailing to confirm you tour and meeting point. Very few tours are cancelled! There may be up to 20 passengers on board. Individual group sizes are limited to up to 10. You will most likely be sailing with others from all over the world!
