You can read this article in German or English.

This article provides specific information about local laws that apply to people who host their homes in Bad Kissingen. Just like our country article for Germany, it’s your responsibility to verify and comply with any obligations that apply to you as a host. This article can serve as a starting point or place you can come back to if you have questions but it isn’t exhaustive and it doesn’t constitute legal or tax advice. It’s a good idea to check to make sure laws and procedures are current.

Some of the laws that might affect you are complicated. Contact the government of Bad Kissingen directly or consult a local advisor, such as an attorney or tax professional, if you have questions.

Spa tax

The City of of Bad Kissingen collects a spa tax on short-term stays from non-permanent residents. All guests who are not permanent residents of Bad Kissingen are subject to the local spa tax. The spa tax is collected by the Free State of Bavaria based on the spa tax collection regulations.

Guests subject to the spa tax are eligible for a Bad Kissingen guest card which offers some benefits. In addition, the income from the spa tax is made available to the state-owned baths at Bad Kissingen to cover the operation and maintenance of the spa, recreational, and public facilities as well as the city's parks and green areas.

Check Bad Kissingen’s website for more information about the spa tax.

Spa tax rates

The spa tax is currently set at €3.60 per day. Children and adolescents under the age of 18 are exempt from the spa tax and there are reduced tariffs for conference guests and guests with severe disabilities.

Registration

Hosts in Bad Kissingen are obliged to collect identification data to register their guests and give each registered guest their Bad Kissingen guest card.
