We had a great stay as a family of 9 with 3 toddlers. The cabin is as pictured, quiet, a short drive to all the activities around Big Bear, and the kitchen (along with the grill) was well equipped for making meals together as a family.

The hot tub was a nice extra to relax after a long day.

Bedrooms were comfortable and option of AC, ceiling fans, and easy to open windows kept the house at desired temperature.

The bed is extremely comfortable with a foam mattress topper. The main bedroom has a lot of great natural light and blinds to turn it dark enough to sleep in. No A/C so it gets toasty in mid-afternoon in July, but it cools down naturally and dropped inside to 66 degrees overnight for perfect sleeping.
Fully fenced yard was lovely for bringing my dog. She could still get under the house so supervised the whole time but really nice to know she couldn’t get out to the street.

This is the first time I ever felt unsafe at an airbnb property in my 20+ stays so far. To begin with, the host dropped me a message on airbnb app asking my checkin time. I was driving so I didn’t check the app. Check in time was 3 pm onwards, I along with 6 other family members including my 2 year old, reached at 7 pm. By Big Bear rules, the host has to let us in in-person. There was no one at the property when we arrived. There was no note left, no message. It took me a while to find the host’s contact number through the app and when I called, there was no answer. Finally, they answered and we got the code and entered around 7:40 pm. The night before checkout, the carbon monoxide/smoke alarm went off around midnight while we were all sleeping, all appliances seemed to be in order so tried calling the host, no answer again. The power in half of the property went out as well. We just didnt know what to do. I left a message to the host which was left unread. Terrible terrible experience
