satoru's home was a real highlight of our trip. from his offer to pick us up from the train station, to the spacious, beautiful and traditional Japanese home we got to call ours for a few days, the stay itself was so special.

An extraordinary experience at a traditional and well-kept Kyō-Machiya. Satoru went above and beyond as a host and the accommodation was astoundingly beautiful, near to major temples and public transit. A special experience in a special city we will never forget.

We had a fantastic month in Satoru’s place while I was visiting Kyoto University. It’s a beautiful old traditional Japanese house restored by Satoru a decade ago. There were just two of us so it was very spacious although when we first arrived Kyoto was having record summer temperatures so it was a little warm upstairs, although there is a/c there as well. The place is in a quiet area very close to Kinkakuji Temple. It is a little out from the centre of Kyoto but there are always regular buses so it’s not really a problem. Satoru was always super helpful and lives nearby so is available to help out. A beautiful house to stay in for a month.
