Drama, Musical, Cabaret, Pocket Opera, Chamber Music, Comedy, Dance, Street Art, Illusion, Grand Guignol, Erotica and the more unique subversions of Burlesque. New Theatre’s ability to showcase as well as nurture both mainstream and fringe elements of theatre is a rare gift to be treasured by the Australian arts community

Tatty décor and a general air of wear-and-tear only add to the charm of one of the longest running theatre companies in NSW. Established in 1932 as a workers’ theatre, the New now has a wide remit ranging across classics, neglected Australian repertoire, contemporary European and American work, gay theatre and musicals. Productions under the auspices of the New Theatre company are amateur, in the sense that the actors are unpaid.

Community theatre with professional quality. Good, quality, live theatre very reasonably priced. Half price Thursday nights are when I usually go. Amazing quality as there's a huge talent pool.
