Take time to watch the locks in action from the viewing station for free. Wander around downtown to get snack, t-shirts, lunch or dinner. Boat tours of the locks is a great way to understand and see the locks.

A great place to get up close to the great lakes freighters. All the boat traffic goes through the locks.

You cannot come to Sault Ste Marie without going to the Soo Locks. Visit the Visitors Center, walk through the park and enjoy a rest by the fountain, and watch a freighter go from the Upper to Lower St. Mary's River. The Locks is located on Portage Ave also known as Fudgy Lane. Plenty of fudge shops, ice cream stores, gift shops, and restaurants, a perfect place to spend an afternoon.

A short drive (45 min) from St. Ignace to see huge freighters moving through the locks from Lake Superior to/from Lake Huron.
