Pnyka was the meeting place of all Athenians gathering to hold their assemblies, vote and speak their mind. Hence, it became one of the most important symbols of democracy. A flat stone was used as the speaker’s stepping stone and the rest sat on the hillside facing him. In addition, there were five hundred seats, one for each member of the Council, which was elected every year to run the city of Athens.

Pnyka , a traditional bakery since 1981. Its owner was once invited by Harvard to teach how to make bread. His son now owns the place still using the old way of stone mill wheat grinding. Recently they've also opened a bakery in Vienna and they've become very famous already!
