There's no denying the beauty of Florence, but if you're looking to explore further afield, head out to the Fiesole hills. A short journey north of the city will lead you to Villa il Palmerino. This historic property is home to a regular programme of lectures and concerts, as well as some breathtaking English gardens, which are open to tours.
