In 2013, Seminary Ridge Museum and Education Center opened in the historic Lutheran Seminary building in Gettysburg. Our award-winning exhibit and robust educational offerings have helped thousands of students gain a deeper understanding of the Civil War era. Now, learners who cannot travel to Gettysburg can experience the same lessons and activities that are presented in the museum. There is nowhere better for students to discover the intersection between war, freedom, science, and culture than Seminary Ridge Museum and Education Center. Centered on a building that has stood sentinel in Gettysburg for almost two centuries, our resources bring this unique perspective into your classroom. All lessons and activities, designed by historians and educators, are interactive and meet Common Core and National Council for the Social Studies Standards.

Plan out 2-4 hours for this self guided tour. It focuses on the first days battle and the grim conditions suffered by the casualties of this battle. The Cupola tour is worth the extra money. You get a great view of what General Buford saw before and during the battle.

Seminary Ridge Museum and Education Center, is located on Seminary Ridge along the National Park Service's auto tour route. Three floors of exhibits connect individuals and groups to the dilemmas which led to the Civil War, provide a powerful and personal view of the battle's first day, and show the work of one of the battlefield's largest field hospitals.
