Sweet summertime in the Smokies can mean playing in the dirt and ruby mining. On our last visit, we found rubies and emeralds! The owner is super nice and will explain what you are looking for and what you may have just found in your treasure bucket. The Ruby Mine owner, Peggy Maddox, told us new stories about my grandparents last time we went. :) She has a lot of knowledge of local history.
