The closest beach access from Casa dos Francelhos! Great to combine with a snack and drink at Barreirinha Bar Café (its outdoor tables are just at the beach entrance). Please remember that "beach" in Madeira means a place with sea access (almost never with sand).

Right next to the São Tiago Fortress, the Barreirinha Bathing Complex offers a direct access to the sea. In Funchal’s eastern area, near the Old Town and alongside the São Tiago Fortress, you can find the Barreirinha Bathing Complex. This rocky beach faces the Port of Funchal offering a direct access to the sea, and good facilities for swimming. The complex includes a large sunbathing terrace, WC, changing rooms, lockers, a bar, sunshades, sun loungers and a first aid post. The safety of the entire complex is ensured by a lifeguard. Also try the Bar outside.
