8 MINUTES This beautiful old brick Meeting House has stood on Washington Hill for 165 years. It was built 1833, dedicated on October 16, 1834. It stands at the junction of Routes 179 and 219, in the town of Barkhamsted, Connecticut, and was the mother church of the North Canton Methodist Church, which celebrated its centennial in 1972. This is an unusually beautiful building and is one of the very few prime examples of an early Methodist Meeting House remaining in Connecticut. Barkhamsted is extremely fortunate that it remains practically unchanged from the way it was first built and retains all its antique beauty.
