Like John Wayne? This is a taste of American West. In addition to standard steak, burgers, etc., there is memorabilia associated with the film of True Grit in Ridgway, and Ouray county.
This is an undeniable landmark in Ridgway that has shown a lot of staying power over the decades. Themed after John Wayne, star of the movie True Grit which was filmed in and around Ridgway in the 1960's, this place has some character! I would stop in for a drink and maybe try the wings, but not…
It's a landmark and honors the original True Grit movie with lots of memorabilia of John Wayne and western movies of that era, including the late Dennis Weaver, a former resident of Ridgway. The inside brick wall appears in the opening scene of True Grit when Rooster Cogburn arrives with the prison…
The John Wayne memorabilia and history is worth the trip. Good home cooking.
“Farm to Table. Great cocktails and unique food combinations! Love the interior as well.”
“This is a beautiful place to stretch your legs especially if you choose to walk the beautiful, paved river trail from town (at the end of Railroad St) out to the park. This is just under a mile walk one-way, otherwise you can drive there from highway 550 north of town to Riversage Dr. There are hiking trails laced through the adjacent sagebrush hills across the road from the eagle statue culminating in incredible views from the top of Boot Hill. Dennis was a famous actor (Gunsmoke) and longtime Ridgway resident who generously donated the land for the park to the town.”
“Ridgway Park is among the most beautiful parks in the state. Ridgway Reservoir offers boating of all kinds, sailing, swimming and prime fishing. ”
“This is a local favorite! Only open for breakfast and lunch. Homemade and delicious. Arrive early for a shorter wait!”
