Chichester Harbour is rich in history, dating back to Roman times. Many of the Harbour's villages have a story to tell. The Harbour is an interesting historic environment and archaeologists are still finding new areas of interest today. Fishbourne Roman Palace is well known and many of the Harbour's churches are visited regularly. Bosham has links to King Harold and the Bayeux tapestry and to King Canute, whose daughter is said to be buried in the churchyard. The Conservancy has a role to protect the historic environment and hosts the Chichester Harbour Heritage Partnership which meets twice a year to discuss projects and items of interest.
