The Krka spring is located near the town of the same name in the northern part of the Dry Landscape. The excursion is a combination of the beauty of the numerous karst springs of one of our most beautiful rivers and its tributaries, the old rural architecture, the cultural landscape nurtured by its inhabitants and the medieval castle heritage. Upon arrival in the village of Krka, we will be surprised by the size of the village church, and even more so by the spring of Poltarica a few hundred meters ahead. The stream, which could also be called a small river, is the first tributary of the Krka River and springs at several places below the rocks at the foot of a steep, forested slope. On the rock above the spring once stood a heavily fortified medieval castle Vrhkrka from which only traces of ruins can be seen today. The entrance to the Poltarico Cave is also located at the springs, which is closed to tourists. The path leads us through the village Gradiček. When Vrhkrka Castle collapsed, a more comfortable successor was built in the village, but it was later rebuilt into a farmhouse. After Gradic, we walk to the spring of Krka. Just above it is the Krška jama cave, which can be viewed with prior notice. It is a dry spring cave that only eats groundwater during prolonged rains. In particular, water flows from Radensko polje flow into it. We return through the village of Krka, where we are fascinated by the long Javornik dam and the footbridge that leads across the Krka.
