Gene and I went here on our first date in 1990. Los Barrios is a little out of the way from E-Co Lofts, but worth the drive. This restaurant has expanded several times since we first visited. The atmosphere is still welcoming, the food is delicious and the margaritas are tasty, too. These days, the founding matriarch's daughter, Diana, takes time to make her way through the dining area to chat with guests. Mon-Thu 10A-10P, Fri & Sat 10A-11P, Sun 9A-10P

San Antonio is famous for it's delicious Tex-Mex food. This is one of my personal favorites.

If you want to experience really good Mexican food and ok with a little bit of a drive, this is the place to try. It can host parties of just a small group. It was started by a lady that used her husband's life insurance money after he died and left her with two small children. You can see while dining inside the original establishment walls and how the restaurant expanded as she succeeded. She and her daughter went on the write a book together with the family recipes and was featured in many food write ups. The original owner has died, but the two children run the restaurant now.
