Our favorite hike in Glen Arbor ... it loops, and at the top there are great views of the Manitou Islands.

Two loop trails offering varying intensity/distance. Unfortunately this incredible (and incredibly popular) hiking trail was hit by a huge windstorm, knocking down a lot of the trees at its apex, but don't let that deter you. There are absolutely gorgeous views to be had of both Lake Michigan and Big Glen Lake.

Alligator Hill is a great option for those looking to escape the sand and hike through a beech-maple forest. This hike offers a total of 8 miles of trail divided into 3-4.5 mile loops. We recommend checking out Big Glen Lookout. All the outdoor activities located within the Sleeping Bear Dunes require a Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Pass required for parking or entrance. The 7 day pass is $25 and can only be purchased in person at one of the visitor centers or Dune Climb Entrance (both limited hours and open seasonally). The more convenient method is to purchase an annual pass for $45 online at pay.gov - we recommend purchasing at least 2 weeks in advance to allow time for the pass to be mailed.
