For a selection of English books and media you can go a little further away, to Berlin's own American Memorial Library. You are free to enter and read a book without a library card - these are required only to rent the books. It is also a good spot to get some work done, as it is quiet. Open Mon - Sa, from 10:00 to 21:00.

America Memorial Library (gift from the Americans to commemorate the Soviet blockade in 1948/49): Special sections on humanities and social studies, music, art, theatre, and media.
