Contemporary American with good choices for vegetarians. The cocktails are fire, as the kids say. Reservations are usually at a premium; best to book early in the week if you’re looking for a weekend slot.

BIG INDIAN (Rte 28) • A coveted yummy restaurant that people drive distances to visit, but we think Shandaken Inn is better (and closer).
