The Rigi is one of the world's most famous mountains. The best place to enjoy the mountain, in my view, is by getting the Weggis cable car to Rigi Klatbad and walking along a very flat path for miles and miles, or to one of the restaurants on the path. The beauty of the trip is the view across the alps. All the classic peaks are visible e.g. Eiger. The Rigi obsessed one of the world's great painters (JMW Turner) mainly because from Weggis and Lucerne the mountain catches the light in a particular way. Mark Twain was one of the many 19th century "artists" who climbed to the top to see the sunrise from the mountain, quite a spectacle as the sun rises above the easters Alps.
