Another hiking option (Brainard Lake is the other one). Hike through the Rainbow Lakes chain. This is less panoramic than Brainard, and more "woodsy".

Don't park in the campground, park just outside it. Great hiking and fishing

Make this a short or long out-and-back hike for beginners to intermediate levels. This is a great hike to explore small alpine lakes and nature explore with children. Watch for moose!
