The Sky Waka gondola travels 1.8 km’s through one of the North Island’s most rugged and spectacular landscapes high on Mt Ruapehu, past waterfalls in summer and snow-laden peaks in winter. The ride is spectacular in the summer months with stunning mountain views of Mount Ngauruhoe, Mount Tongariro, Mount Ruapehu and if you're lucky you might get a glimpse of Mount Taranaki out on the west coast. The gondola travels from the Top of the Bruce base area directly to the newly renovated Knoll Ridge Chalet. At the top there is much to discover and be amazed by. Stretch your legs with a walk, check out the locally carved POU and embrace some NZ culture or fill your belly with some delicious food from either the Pātaka Cafe or The Pinnacles restaurant. Please note that in the winter season snow blankets the surrounding area of the gondola. However in summer you will be able to explore amongst volcanic rock and be amazed by stunning waterfalls.
