The Durham outpost of The Pit in Old North Durham features pit-cooked pork barbecue, although their other options (including the bbq soy nuggets) are also good! Also, don't make a mistake Lin made during her PhD and go to the original location in Raleigh - they're about 40 minutes away from each other.

This place has some great BBQ but we come on Monday evenings for live music from 6-9. It never disappoints.

Many different types of BBQ for the meat lovers, as well as great vegetarian sides! Across from Motorco (great music venue), Fullsteam Brewery, Cocoa Cinnamon, Geer St Garden, etc.
